Hahn-Warburg was a key member of the Committee for the Care of the Concentration Camp Children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Born in 1901, she was the daughter of a leading Berlin banker, Max Warburg, and sister-in-law of educationalist Kurt Hahn.<\/span><\/p>\n

She fled Germany with her husband and two children in 1938.<\/span><\/p>\n

She joined the Central British Fund soon after arriving in London and led a delegation of British Jews to the Home Office to plead for persecuted German-Jewish children. She played an important part in the pre-war Kindertransports.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was in the <\/span>Windermere<\/span><\/a> reception centre and immediately set about organising for the care of the children with tuberculosis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kindertransport and the Boys were only two of her successes in saving children\u2019s lives. Shortly before her death, she also helped to rescue children from hostile countries including Ayatollah Khomeini\u2019s Iran and Mengistu\u2019s Ethiopia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hahn-Warburg died in 1989.<\/span><\/p>\n
