In 1937-1939 he taught in Berlin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friedmann accompanied a number of Kindertransports and remained in the UK in 1939.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the UK, he taught at a Zionist farm camp whose pupils were training to go to Palestine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In October 1945, he took charge of the s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">econd group<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Boys at the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wintershill Hall<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reception centre. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1946, he moved to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Millisle<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hostel where he took care of some of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">third group<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Boys that had been brought to the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Later that year he moved to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bunce Court<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> school to become its headmaster. The relationship with Essinger, who had been the sole headmistress of the school since its inception in Germany in 1926, was difficult and Friedmann left.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He then taught at Carmel College. He believed in the role of art, music and culture in education. He retired in 1961.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friedmann died in 1976.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere was a great personality there.
